SELMA, CA – Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Ag Task Force have arrested 40-year-old Jennifer Macias of Selma. She was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of embezzlement and forgery. Her bail was set at $47,000. She has since posted bond and been released from custody. She is scheduled to appear in court on December 10, 2021.

The investigation began in February 2021 when deputies received a report from a farming company located in Kingsburg. Allegations were made that Jennifer Macias, the company’s bookkeeper, had been embezzling money. The owner of the farm noticed in early 2020 that a lot more money than usual was being drawn out of his account. He contacted his bank and asked the staff to look into it. They found evidence dating back to 2018 that Macias had altered hundreds of business checks and deposited the money into her personal bank account. Macias stole approximately $620,000 during this time period.
