Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Arrest of Car Thief

NORWICH, CT – The Connecticut State Police have captured a car thief after investigating a suspicious vehicle parked along I-395 near Norwich.

“On the afternoon of April 1, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a Troop E K9 Trooper observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of I-395 in the City of Norwich. As the Trooper approached the vehicle, he observed two individuals walking away from it,” the Connecticut State Police reported. “As the Trooper conversed with the individuals, indicators of criminal activity were observed. One of the parties, who provided a false name to Troopers, was identified as a 35-year-old Windham man. The other individual was identified as a 34-year-old Willimantic woman.”

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined the vehicle had been stolen. Police said the male was also found to have been wanted on five outstanding arrest warrants. The accused parties were transported to Troop K in Colchester for processing.

The accused 35-year-old Windham man had bail set at a combined $295,000. His name was not released.
