CUMBERLAND, MD – The following incidents were reported by the Cumberland Police Department between June 10-13. These incident represent only a portion of the calls responded to by police officers during that time.
CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED
On Friday, June 10, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Jenius Daniels. The summons was issued as a result of a traffic stop investigation. On June 1, 2022, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department observed Daniels operating a vehicle on W. Second Street. The officer filed for charges at District Court and a summons was issued. Daniels was released pending trial after being served.

CDS ARRESTS
On Friday, June 10, 2022, at approximately 11:45 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department observed suspected drug activity on Maryland Avenue. The subjects involved were then detained. After further investigation, Malakhi Henderson and Jessica Jones were found to be in possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. They were each issued a criminal citation and released pending trial.

BENCH WARRANT SERVED/CDS ARREST
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department located Kelsie Riggleman in the area of Bedford Street and Linden Street. Riggleman was arrested on an active bench warrant issued by the District Court of Allegany County for failing to appear in court for a CDS related offense. A search incident to arrest revealed that Riggleman was in possession of a quantity of controlled dangerous substance, CDS controlled paraphernalia and CDS paraphernalia. Riggleman was transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.

BENCH WARRANT SERVED
On Saturday, June 11, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Jessica Miller. The warrant was issued as a result of Miller failing to appear her court case. Miller was originally charged with Trespassing. She was arrested and transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on a $1,500 unsecured personal bond.

TRESPASSING ARREST
On Saturday, June 11, 2022 at approximately 6:53 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the first block of Maple Street for a male subject causing a disturbance on the porch of a vacant residence. Upon arrival, police contacted the complainant who advised that Christopher Kaylor has been staying in the back yard of the residence and frequently causes disturbances. Kaylor had previously been told to stay off of the property. Officers contacted Kaylor and placed him under arrest. He was transported to Central Booking. Kaylor was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $1,500 bond.

BENCH WARRANT SERVED
On Sunday, June 12, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Kristie Wolford. The warrant was issued as a result of Wolford failing to appear for her case at the District Court of Allegany County. She was originally charged with multiple theft offenses. Wolford was arrested and later transported to Central Booking. Wolford was seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

ARREST WARRANT SERVED
On Sunday, June 12, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jerry Sparkman. The warrant was issued as a result of an incident that occurred in the early morning hours on June 11, 2022. Officers of the Cumberland Police Department with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 900 block of Bedford Street for a disturbance.
Police contacted the resident who advised that she had an argument with Jerry Sparkman. She reported that Sparkman grabbed a firearm and went to the shed at the rear of the residence prior to her hearing a loud bang. Police attempted to contact Sparkman with negative results. Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene and Sparkman refused to come out of the shed. Members of the Cumberland Emergency Response Team responded. A tactical operation was planned and executed. Sparkman was able to be removed from the shed without further incident. Sparkman was taken for an evaluation. Police filed for charges against Sparkman and a warrant was issued. Sparkman was arrested today and later transported to Central Booking. He was seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

ASSAULT ARREST
On Sunday, June 12, 2022, at approximately 3:17 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue for an assault. Upon arrival, police contacted the alleged victim who reported that she had an argument with Derrick Pettit. She advised that Pettit assaulted her during the argument. The victim sustained injuries. Pettit was later located and arrested. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $1,500 bond.
