Woman injured in assault and robbery, loses $1,850 in the Bronx

NEW YORK, NY – A Bronx woman was assaulted and robbed of $1,850 by an unknown suspect last Friday in front of 229 Kingsbridge Road. Today, the NYPD released a photo of the suspect wanted in that assault and robbery.

According to police, the 26-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when the suspect approached her from behind and forcibly grabbed her purse.

“It was reported to police that on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 1106 hours, in front of 229 Kingsbridge Road, a 26-year-old female victim was walking when an unknown individual approached her from behind and forcibly grabbed her purse.

“At that moment, the purse opened up, and $1,850 cash fell onto the ground; the individual picked up the money, and the victim tried to stop the individual from taking her money at which time the individual pushed the victim to the ground and fled on foot to parts unknown,” the NYPD said today.

The woman sustained minor lacerations to her knee. She was treated for her injuries at the scene and released.
