Newburgh Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal Shooting Case

NEWBURGH, NY – Yesterday, Lamont Williams, 29, of Newburgh, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree and assault in the second degree in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on September 29, 2022. Under the plea agreement, Williams is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision on July 10, 2023.

Williams fired a loaded pistol at two people, killing a 29-year-old Newburgh resident and injuring a five-year-old boy. After the incident, Williams fled to North Carolina, where he was apprehended and extradited back to New York.
