by Charlie Dwyer

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Friday, at approximately 12:41 a.m., police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Hartford Dr. and Zion Rd. in Egg Harbor Township. A single vehicle, a 2008 Infiniti, had struck a tree and subsequently caught fire, resulting in a fully engulfed blaze. Officers arriving on the scene found the vehicle in flames, making it impossible to approach.

Neighbors who had exited their homes in response to the crash had initially tried to rescue the driver, 22-year-old Temitayo O. Ali, but were unable to reach him due to the intense heat and flames. Sadly, Ali, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, led by Officers Patrick Daly and Robert Moran, is currently investigating the crash. They are requesting anyone with further information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-2661.
