Morristown man found guilty of sexually assaulting child

MORRISTOWN, NJ – Alejandro Velasquez-Martinez of Morristown has been found guilty of aggravated sexual assault on a minor, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

The verdict was delivered on May 12, 2023, following a four-day jury trial presided over by the Honorable Nina Remson, J.S.C., in Bergen County Superior Court. In addition to aggravated sexual assault, Velasquez-Martinez was also convicted of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

During the trial, the prosecution called six witnesses, including two experts, who testified that Velasquez-Martinez committed aggravated sexual assault on a minor under the age of 13 while he was performing tile repairs in her family’s home in Demarest on the morning of August 19, 2019. The defendant now faces severe consequences for his crimes.
