Boston Police Warn Elderly Residents of Kidnapping Scams

by Leo Canega

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Police Department (BPD) responded to a potential kidnapping report in the area of Waltham Street on Sunday. A resident received a threatening phone call, during which an unknown suspect demanded a cash payment through an online application, alleging they would kidnap the caller’s daughter and her young child.

Upon arrival at the scene, the officers found the individuals safe and not in distress. The BPD is advising anyone who receives a similar call to contact the police immediately, try to confirm the well-being of the person involved, ask the caller for specific details about their family member, and report the incident to the Boston Police Department or their local area police immediately.
