Elmont man arrested for murder in Brooklyn

New York City – Detectives with the NYPD’s 67th Precinct have made an arrest in an ongoing murder investigation.

Dwalen Sawney, a 49-year-old resident of Elmont has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

Sawney was arrested on Tuesday in Brooklyn.

The arrest is a result of a murder he committed on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at approximately 7:12 p.m. in front of 350 East 51st Street.

Police were initially dispatched in response to a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 38-year-old male victim who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was quickly transported to Brookdale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The deceased individual has been identified as Peter George, 38 years old, residing at 1034 Rutland Road in Brooklyn, New York.
