Philadelphia Police Officer Injured During Vehicle Stop

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On Monday, a Philadelphia Police Officer was injured during a vehicle investigation on the 42XX block of Cheltenham Avenue. At 9:42 P.M., while the officer was conducting the investigation, the driver accelerated, dragging the officer who was subsequently thrown from the vehicle.

The officer was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle, a silver or grey Tesla with the PA license plate # LZQ-0052, was recovered the next day. Eddy Brito-Almonte, a 20-year-old resident from the 45XX block of D Street, has been identified as the suspect.

Warrants for his arrest include charges of aggravated assault, VUFA-No License, aggravated assault by vehicle, VUFA-On Street, simple assault, Reap, and fleeing police.
