Road Rage Incident Turns Deadly on East 60th Street

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A road rage incident resulted in a fatality on Wednesday. The New York City Police Department responded to emergency calls at 2:17 pm about a vehicle collision on East 60 Street. Upon arrival, a 54-year-old man, identified as Roberto Velez Alvarez of Franklin Square, NY, was found lying on the sidewalk, suffering from body trauma.

An initial investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Alvarez, collided with a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 26-year-old man, identified as Andre Mosby. After the collision, Alvarez reportedly exited his vehicle with a knife and slashed the tires of the Jetta. In response, Mosby rapidly accelerated his vehicle, pinning Alvarez against a building. Mosby was taken into police custody.

Alvarez was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Mosby has been charged with manslaughter and assault.
