ERIE, PA – The Erie Police Department welcomed three new officers into its ranks on Tuesday in a ceremony held at the Erie City Hall.
Dominic D’Antonio, 23, is a graduate of Seneca High School and a former United States Army infantryman. Alex Bielak, 22, a native of Erie, has prior law enforcement experience with the Erie County Sheriff’s Department. Rahim Hrnjic, 25, immigrated to the United States from Bosnia in 2000 and has previously served with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
All three officers are graduates of Mercyhurst University’s Police Academy in North East. The Erie Police Department, with the inclusion of these new officers, now has a total of 193 officers in its force.
D’Antonio has 10 months of prior service with the Corry Police Department. Bielak is the son of Erie Police Sgt. James Bielak, who works in the EPD training unit. Hrnjic has been serving the Erie School District Police Department for the last eight months before his current appointment.
The ceremony took place in the City Council chambers at the Erie City Hall. The three officers began their duties immediately following the ceremony.
