Top Golf Shooter Arrested by Police in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, MD – A man wanted for shooting multiple people inside Maryland Topgolf facility has been arrested.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section arrested Cyprian Nwaigwe, 28, in connection with the shooting that took place at a Topgolf facility.

Around 12:06 a.m., a 23-year-old Topgolf security guard told Nwaigwe to leave as the facility was closing. A physical altercation ensued between Nwaigwe and the security guard, extending to the front door area. Nwaigwe then shot the security guard in his upper body and an 18-year-old Topgolf employee in his lower body before leaving the scene.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

5th District detectives identified Nwaigwe as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant, charging him with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime.

Nwaigwe was located in an Ocean City, MD hotel at approximately 12:57 a.m. and was arrested with the assistance of the Ocean City Police Department.
