NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department has arrested and charged 55-year-old Derrick Williams of 3145 Rochambeau Avenue, Bronx, NY in connection to a double homicide that occurred on Friday, August 25.
Williams was arrested on Wednesday, August 30, at approximately 10:00 p.m. within the confines of the 52nd Precinct. He is facing two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Roberto Jimenez, also of 3145 Rochambeau Avenue, Bronx, NY, and 29-year-old Gina Cooks of 2406 Valentine Avenue, Bronx, NY.
On the evening of the incident, police responded to a 911 call at approximately 10:19 p.m. reporting an assault at 3145 Rochambeau Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 29-year-old female, later identified as Gina Cooks, with a stab wound to her chest, and a 33-year-old female with a slash wound to her hand. Both were rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where Cooks was pronounced dead. The 33-year-old is in stable condition.
Further investigation led officers to discover Jimenez inside the residence with multiple stab wounds to his torso. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
