Wanted Pennsylvania Fugitive Caught Shoplifting at New Jersey Best Buy

HOLMDEL, NJ – On September 3, police arrested two men, one a wanted fugitive, following a call from Best Buy loss prevention staff.

The Holmdel Township Police Department (HTPD) received a call around 5:30 PM from employees at Best Buy. The staff identified several individuals known for shoplifting at other Best Buy locations loitering around the store. Patrolmen Sasso and DePinho arrived on the scene and located two subjects walking away from the store, trailed by employees.

The subjects were identified as Clifton Owens, 43, and Jerome Christie, 33, both residents of Trenton, NJ. Owens was arrested for being a wanted fugitive from Pennsylvania on a forgery charge. He is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending an extradition hearing.

Jerome Christie was arrested due to an outstanding warrant issued by the Delran Municipal Court. He was processed and subsequently released as directed by the court.
