Holmdel Triumphs Over St. John Vianney in Overtime Nail-Biter

HOLMDEL, NJ – Holmdel defeated St. John Vianney 20-14 in an overtime thriller on Friday, September 8, bringing their season record to 2-0 and sending St. John Vianney to a 0-3 start.

Quarterback Jack Cannon led Holmdel with 85 passing yards, while running back Anthony Setteducate rushed for 100 yards. Connor Fields stood out on defense with a total of 13 tackles and Alex Reyes notched two sacks.

For St. John Vianney, the passing game was non-existent, and the scoring came from two touchdowns by Luca Minardo. However, these were not enough to secure a win.

Holmdel took an early lead with a 1-yard run by Matt Iulo, followed by a 21-yard run from Cannon in the 4th quarter. The game went into overtime after both teams were locked at 14-14 at the end of regulation. Gary Collyer’s 9-yard run sealed the win for Holmdel in the extra period.

This victory sets a positive tone for Holmdel as they continue their season, while St. John Vianney will look to turn their fortunes around in upcoming games.
