Suspect Sought in Friday Night Shooting in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Authorities are looking to identify a male suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Friday, August 11, on 3rd Street near Gould Place, as announced by Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé.

The incident took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. Officers responding to a report of shots fired found spent shell casings at the scene, although no victims or injuries have been reported. Surveillance footage shows the male suspect discharging a firearm into the air.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous tips received will be kept confidential and could lead to a reward.
