The New Jersey State Police are actively seeking the public’s assistance in solving a fatal hit-and-run incident that took place earlier this week. The crash occurred on Monday, October 9, on the Garden State Parkway and resulted in the death of a sixteen-year-old male pedestrian.
According to the preliminary investigation by state detectives, the incident occurred around 9:24 p.m. when a juvenile pedestrian crossed the roadway near the 143C entrance ramp on Eastern Parkway in Irvington. The young man was struck by a vehicle, described as a black 2004-2006 Acura TL with an unknown license plate, traveling northbound. The vehicle did not stop and continued to flee north on the Garden State Parkway.
The victim, a sixteen-year-old male from Newark, NJ, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact. The case is currently under active investigation, and authorities are looking to speak with anyone who may have pertinent information.
In an official release, the New Jersey State Police said, “Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, the events leading to, or following the crash is asked to contact Troop ‘D’ Bloomfield Station at 732-441-4500 ext 3400.” The department is also accepting anonymous tips.
