ALBANY, NY – A number of ShopRite supermarket closures is on the horizon for the Capital Region surrounding Albany, New York, with five locations set to cease operations in early December.
The impending closures were confirmed by ShopRite parent company Wakefern Food Corp. this past Friday, following earlier reports.
The official communication disclosed that the closures, inclusive of fuel stations, are being orchestrated by Shop-Rite Supermarkets Inc., a subsidiary of Wakefern.
In a statement, Wakefern, headquartered in Keasbey, New Jersey, said, “Shop-Rite Supermarkets Inc. (SRS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Wakefern Food Corp., has made the decision to close its ShopRite stores and gas stations in the Capital Region, including the stores located in Albany, Colonie, Niskayuna, Slingerlands and North Greenbush.”
The statement, issued by Chief Communications Officer Karen Meleta, specified a closure date of on or about Dec. 9.
