13-Year-Old Boy Swept Away After Jumping Into East River

NEW YORK, NY – Divers scoured the East River on Saturday for a 13-year-old boy, Kavion Brown, following his daring leap meant to impress friends.

The episode unfolded around 4:30 p.m. on Friday when the teen plunged into the waters off East 6th Street and FDR Drive, only to vanish beneath the murky waves.

Eyewitnesses promptly dialed 911, triggering a swift response from local authorities.

The NYPD dispatched a dive team to the scene, combing the depths in a desperate search for Kavion.

A police spokesman shared the heart-wrenching belief that the young boy may have been trying to prove his mettle to his peers, uttering, “Look what I can do,” before making the fateful jump.
