Shooting at D.C. Supermarket Driveby Leaves One Injured

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Authorities are on the hunt for several men who shot into a Giant supermarket in Northwest D.C., injuring one person Saturday night.

At the scene near 7th and O Streets, Metropolitan Police Department officers reported hearing gunshots at 9:55 p.m. The incident occurred a block away, on the 1400 block of 8th Street. Witnesses say a silver four-door Toyota carried three to five men who opened fire into the Giant Supermarket storefront.

The shots broke the store’s front window and injured a man, later identified as Gregory Girard Hoey Jr. Hoey Jr., who took himself to a local hospital, and his condition is yet to be disclosed.

The assailants fled the scene and were last seen heading south on 8th Street, Northwest. They are sought for charges including assault with a dangerous weapon, firearm endangerment, and property destruction.
