Fight at Selbyville Strip Mall Party Ends in Shooting with One Dead, One Injured

SELBYVILLE, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred last night at 11:56 p.m. in a strip mall parking lot located at 36334 Dupont Boulevard.

Troopers arriving at the scene found multiple shell casings and observed vehicles leaving the area. A 21-year-old woman from Milford was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital from a gunshot wound. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A second victim, a 30-year-old woman from Seaford, was treated and released from a nearby hospital for a gunshot wound to her upper extremity.

The shooting followed a Halloween party at a business in the strip mall.

A fight broke out during the event, and attendees were asked to leave. The altercation moved to the parking lot, where an unknown suspect began shooting. Neither of the victims was involved in the fight.

The 21-year-old was attempting to get to her car when she was shot, and the 30-year-old was in her car when it was struck by gunfire. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction after the shooting.
