Tammy Murphy Hoping for Annoinment to U.S. Senate

TRENTON, NJ – The Murphys are officially New Jersey’s ‘Royal Family’ as Tammy Murphy, the wife of two-term Governor Phil Murphy, is positioning to take her rightful place in the U.S. Senate. Murphy seeks to capitalize on the political corruption scandal involving U.S. Senator Bob Menendez.

Menendez has been charged with bribery and corruption and has been accused of acting as a foreign agent of Egypt. Today, she officially announced her campaign for U.S. Senate.

He is up for re-election in 2025. In 2026, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will end his term in office. It’s perfect timing for the family to keep one foot in the political sphere, as Murphy is a potential candidate for President in 2029, possibly even in 2024.

But this is New Jersey and when a political boss wants somebody anointed, they usually get their way. Elections and due process are simply formalities.

What was to be a walk in the park for Tammy Murphy is facing some pushback from within her political party. She will also be facing NJ Congressman Andy Kim.

Democrats don’t seem willing to hand the keys over to Murphy. She has received pushback from minority women groups and other Democrats.

After all, the Murphys are the Democrat party, and many feel the position shouldn’t be handed over to the royal family.

But like spoiled brats at a beauty pageant, the Murphys seem willing to push anyone else who challenges Tammy off the stage.

Typically, according to those groups, if Phil Murphy was to get involved in a race, he would prefer a woman of color. This time, no consideration was given and the baton appears to be passing onto the governor’s wife instead. That prospect soured many who felt it was time a woman of color could represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate.

Not this time.
