Armed Robbery at 7-Eleven Leads to Arrests in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department has successfully apprehended two 19-year-old males, Keshawn Forbes and Oghenetega Ogbotor, following an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store. The incident occurred on December 21, 2023, at approximately 11:56 p.m. in the 12200 block of Tech Road.

Responding to a report of an armed robbery on December 22 at around 12:05 a.m., officers from the 3rd District arrived at the scene. The subsequent investigation revealed that Forbes and Ogbotor had entered the store, attempting to make a purchase. The situation escalated when Ogbotor brandished a knife at the employee behind the counter, while Forbes displayed a handgun. The duo then proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of money from the cash registers and fled on foot.

The quick action of the store employee, who contacted 911 and provided a description of the suspects, was pivotal in the response. Officers located individuals matching the description of Forbes and Ogbotor in the 2200 block of Broadbirch Drive. Upon noticing the officers, both suspects attempted to flee.

Forbes was apprehended in the 2301 block of Broadbirch Drive, with officers recovering a 9mm handgun in his possession. Ogbotor was found hiding in a wooded area of the 2200 block of Broadbirch Drive, with the assistance of K-9 units and a Maryland State Police helicopter.

Surveillance footage from the 7-Eleven store corroborated the involvement of Forbes and Ogbotor in the armed robbery.
