CULVER CITY, CA – Culver City Police have arrested Marcos Maldonado, 35, for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The arrest occurred on the I-5 Freeway, as Maldonado was leaving a downtown Los Angeles hotel and boarding a bus to Bakersfield, California.The incident, reported on December 2, 2023, at about 7:46 am, took place in Blair Hills, Culver City. The suspect entered a residence and sexually assaulted a juvenile sleeping in their bed before fleeing on foot. Police officers conducted a search in the area, gathering evidence and video footage of the suspect.Since the incident, detectives have worked relentlessly to identify and locate Maldonado. DNA evidence played a crucial role in his identification and subsequent arrest. He is currently held at Culver City Police Department with bail set at $1.25 million.The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the UCLA Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. While no additional related crimes have been reported in Culver City, police are working with other agencies to identify possible additional victims and encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
