Fatal Subway Shooting at Rockaway Avenue Station; Suspect Sought

A fatal shooting occurred on a northbound 3 train near the Rockaway Avenue subway station on Sunday, January 14, at approximately 8:00 PM. A 45-year-old male victim was inadvertently struck twice in the torso during a verbal dispute between two unknown individuals.

The shooter, after discharging the firearm, fled the scene on foot and was last observed exiting the subway at the Utica Avenue station. Described as a male with a dreadlock hairstyle and a dark complexion, he was wearing a black jacket with a hood, dark-colored sneakers, and dark-colored pants.

The victim, critically injured, was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.

The NYPD is actively investigating the incident and seeking the suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities. This shooting raises concerns about safety on New York City’s subway system, and the NYPD is expected to increase their presence in response.
