by Jeff Jones

BALTIMORE, MD – On January 22, a collaborative operation involving the U.S. Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) and the Baltimore Police Department’s Warrant Apprehension Task Force (WATF) led to the arrest of 32-year-old Jamal Smith. The apprehension followed a brief barricade situation in the 1400 block of N. Milton Street in Baltimore.

The Baltimore Police Department’s SWAT team was called to assist with the barricade situation, which involved a fugitive wanted for serious crimes. The tactical response and coordination between the SWAT team and the task forces were crucial in safely resolving the situation.

Jamal Smith, a Baltimore resident, was found to have active warrants for murder and two counts of attempted murder. These charges stem from an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on June 16, 2022, in the 200 block of Redwood Street. During this incident, three individuals were shot, including a 25-year-old male, a 29-year-old male, and a 31-year-old male. The 25-year-old victim, identified as Ryan Harris, was pronounced dead.
