Philadelphia, PA – Latif Williams was convicted on Tuesday of the 2021 murder of Temple University student Samuel Collington, following a one-day trial. The conviction came near the campus where the crime occurred, causing widespread concern in the community.
Judge J. Scott O’Keefe found Williams, born on November 12, 2004, guilty of third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime, and illegal possession of a firearm. District Attorney Larry Krasner expressed gratitude towards the Philadelphia Police Department and prosecutors for their diligent work on the case.
The murder of Collington has had a profound impact on his family, friends, and the entire university community. DA Krasner also acknowledged the efforts of ADA Joanne Pescatore and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Unit for their role in securing the conviction.
Williams is set to be sentenced on May 1, 2024, by Judge O’Keefe. Additionally, Williams faces trial for a separate carjacking incident involving an elderly man, which also occurred in 2021.
