Police Investigating Suitland Murder

SUITLAND, MD –Homicide detectives have charged two individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last Thursday evening in Suitland.

The suspects, identified as 44-year-old Wardell Holland III and 41-year-old Shaquita Stewart, both residents of Suitland, have been charged in the murder of 31-year-old Donnell Tyler from District Heights. The incident took place on March 21, around 7:30 pm, in the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road. Responding officers discovered Tyler in a parking lot with a gunshot wound, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations into the shooting indicate that the incident stemmed from a dispute between the victim and the suspects, who were acquainted with each other. Holland and Stewart reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident. They were apprehended the following day by detectives from the Fugitive Unit.

Wardell Holland III faces charges of second-degree murder, while Shaquita Stewart is charged with first and second-degree murder, in addition to being an accessory after the fact. Both suspects are currently held in no-bond status at the Department of Corrections.
