QUEENS, NY — Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the indictment of Marquise Brown, 25, from Alexandria, VA, and Joseph Woods, 38, from Dolphin, VA, for the April 2022 murder of Yaw Pabi in South Jamaica. Following the fatal shooting, both men fled to Virginia but were extradited last week to face murder and weapon possession charges.

The District Attorney highlighted the case as part of the broader fight against gun violence, underscoring the commitment to justice both on the streets and in the courtroom. Charged with second-degree murder and four counts of second-degree criminal weapon possession, Brown and Woods could face life sentences if convicted.

Video evidence from the night of April 16, 2022, shows the suspects, masked and emerging from a silver Hyundai sedan, opening fire on Pabi and his companions, with Pabi succumbing to head and torso injuries. The courtroom awaits Brown’s return on April 25 and Woods on May 21 for their next hearing.
