NYACK, NY – The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office has announced the indictment of Eddie Sanchez, 63, of Nyack, on charges stemming from a violent incident on St. Patrick’s Day. District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II detailed that Sanchez faces first and second degree assault charges, as well as criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, following a grand jury decision.

On the evening of March 17, Sanchez reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with a 46-year-old male from the Town of Orangetown. The confrontation escalated when Sanchez, concealing a knife, slashed the victim across the face, inflicting a deep, 4-inch wound that necessitated approximately 30 stitches at a local hospital.

The assault, which occurred in broad daylight on Main Street in Nyack, was witnessed by several bystanders. Sanchez fled the scene in a maroon-colored vehicle, which was later intercepted by the Town of Orangetown Police Department. Upon discovery, Sanchez was found in the passenger seat, and a large buck knife was seized from the car, leading to his arrest.
