Two Arrested on Theft Charges in Monroe Township

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ – Two individuals were apprehended during a theft investigation by the Monroe Township Police Department.

On Sunday, two officers from Monroe Township Police, while patrolling a wooded area on the 800 block of Sicklerville Road, discovered Joseph Mclaughlin, 54, and Anthony Pezza, 25, handling stolen wire spools. The officers, part of the “B” Platoon, were investigating the theft of a propane tank from a nearby gas station.

he wires, valued at over $5,000, were identified as stolen from a recent burglary at a local solar field construction site. Mclaughlin and Pezza were subsequently arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and released on a summons.

Further investigation by the Detective Bureau implicated Mclaughlin in the initial burglary, leading to additional charges including Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, and Refusal to Submit to Fingerprinting. Mclaughlin was incarcerated at Salem County Jail on Thursday.
