Hackensack Woman Charged with Aggravated Assault Following Dispute

HACKENSACK, NJ — The Hackensack Police Department has reported the arrest of local resident Evelyn Sampson, aged 62, on charges stemming from an assault incident at a Lehigh Street apartment complex on May 15, 2024. Responding to a distress call, officers learned that Sampson allegedly threw boiling water on a 69-year-old man during a dispute, resulting in minor injuries to the victim.

Sampson, who is currently unemployed, faces charges of second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree possession of a weapon. She was arrested without incident and subsequently transported to Bergen County Jail. Sampson is awaiting her initial court appearance at the Central Judicial Processing court in Hackensack.
