Teenager Escapes Attempted Assault in Pelham Bay Park; Suspect Sought by NYPD

BRONX, NY – A frightening incident in Pelham Bay Park has prompted an NYPD investigation after a 15-year-old girl narrowly escaped an attempted sexual assault.

The attack occurred on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at around 5:00 PM while the victim was walking along a path within the park.

According to reports, an unknown male approached the teenager and struck up a conversation before forcibly placing her in a headlock. He then dragged her into a wooded area of the park with the intention of assaulting her. The victim managed to fight off the attacker and escape the scene. She sustained minor injuries from the ordeal but refused medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a male between 20 to 30 years old, with a medium complexion, slim build, mustache, curly eyelashes, and thick eyebrows. He was last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about this individual or the incident to come forward to help prevent further incidents and ensure community safety.
