Two Teens Arrested for Vehicle Theft at Christiana Mall

NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police have apprehended two teenagers following a stolen vehicle incident at Christiana Mall on May 24, 2024. The event occurred at approximately 7:58 p.m. at 132 Christiana Mall, Newark, Delaware, when mall security spotted a stolen Honda Accord being driven recklessly in the parking lot.

Upon approach by security personnel, the suspects, described as three black male teenagers wearing black ski masks, fled on foot. The vehicle, which had sustained damage to its tire and steering column, was disabled during the incident. State troopers responded swiftly, managing to arrest two of the suspects in the vicinity of the mall. The third suspect managed to escape and remains at large.

During the arrest, authorities found approximately 6.18 grams of suspected marijuana on the 16-year-old suspect and about 3.03 grams of suspected marijuana on the 14-year-old suspect. Both were charged and taken to Troop 2 for processing.

The 16-year-old faces charges including receiving stolen property over $1500, conspiracy second degree, possession of marijuana under 18, criminal mischief over $1000, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently held at Ferris School on a $3030 secured bond.

The 14-year-old was charged with similar offenses, including receiving stolen property over $1500, conspiracy second degree, possession of marijuana under 18, and criminal mischief over $1000. He was also arraigned and is held on a $2550 secured bond at Ferris School.
