Cumberland Police Arrest Two in Armed Robbery Incident

CUMBERLAND, MD — A man and a woman were arrested on Thursday evening following a reported armed robbery at a residence on Hilltop Drive.

At approximately 7:11 PM, Cumberland Police responded to the scene where the victim reported being robbed of her purse at knifepoint by two suspects, later identified as William Mosher III, 32, from Ridgeley, WV, and Ashley Grove, 22, from Cumberland, MD. The suspects had fled the scene on foot but were soon located and detained by the police. The stolen purse was also found and recovered nearby.

Following further investigation, Mosher and Grove were arrested and taken to Central Booking. Mosher is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, while Grove was remanded to the same facility on a $5,000 bond.

Both suspects face charges including first and second-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, reckless endangerment, theft less than $100, false imprisonment, and arson-threat.
