Delaware State Police Arrest Man Following Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

DOVER, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested 32-year-old Jacob McCulley of Viola, Delaware, following a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on the night of June 12, 2024.

At approximately 10:17 PM, a trooper on patrol observed a black GMC Terrain failing to stop at a stop sign on Route 13 near POW/MIA Parkway. Upon checking, the trooper discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle sped away, leading to a pursuit.

The pursuit involved the GMC Terrain driving recklessly through several streets in the Dover area. It ended when the GMC collided with a marked Dover Police Department Tahoe at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and New Burton Road. McCulley then fled the scene on foot but was swiftly apprehended.

A search of McCulley and the vehicle revealed heroin and drug paraphernalia. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

McCulley was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and subsequently committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $5,458 secured bond. The specific charges have not been detailed in this release.
