Smyrna, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a road rage incident that occurred Saturday night in the Smyrna area.

On June 15, at approximately 10:21 PM, a 30-year-old woman from Chester, Pennsylvania, was driving northbound on State Route 1 (Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway) when a white SUV began drifting into her lane. The victim honked her horn and continued driving to avoid a collision.

In response, the SUV’s driver aggressively tailgated her, paralleled her vehicle, flashed high beams, and shouted obscenities. The suspect briefly pulled onto the right shoulder, allowing the victim to pass, but then re-entered the lane and fired shots at her vehicle near Exit 119 before fleeing the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The suspect vehicle is described as a white SUV, possibly a GMC Yukon.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact Detective D. Patterson at (302) 365-8404. Information can also be provided via a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
