COLUMBUS, OH—During an arraignment this week, an Ohio man facing a murder charge requested bond, which was granted, though he remains unlikely to leave jail due to additional legal troubles. Devon Blair, 23, faces multiple charges following the recent death of his girlfriend.

Blair is charged with murder, two counts of assault, and one count each of domestic violence by assault, aggravated menacing, and domestic violence threats. These charges are linked to the June 16 incident involving the death of 19-year-old Brooke Devinney, who was also Blair’s on-again, off-again girlfriend.

Prosecutors revealed that Devinney, who was 14 weeks pregnant, died after sustaining severe physical injuries from an assault. The Columbus Division of Police reported responding to a 911 text message about domestic violence around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, leading to the discovery of the victim.

Despite efforts to save her, Devinney died at a local hospital later that morning. Although police saw a man fleeing the scene, they could not capture him immediately. Blair was arrested later that afternoon, initially on outstanding warrants for previous domestic violence offenses against Devinney, before being charged with her murder the following day.
