BOSTON, MA – On Wednesday, members of the Drug Control Unit of District E-18 (Hyde Park) and officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested 18-year-old Yozaxi Peguero of Dorchester on multiple firearm charges. The arrest occurred around 6:34 PM during an investigation near 60 Southern Avenue.

Officers observed a group of teenagers in the area and noticed one individual repeatedly checking his messenger bag and mimicking shooting motions. The officers requested additional support and followed the group to the backyard of a building. As officers approached, one individual attempted to flee by entering a basement door.

A foot pursuit ensued, and Peguero resisted arrest, attempting to reach into his fanny pack. Officers apprehended him and found a firearm on the second-floor landing. The weapon, a Bryco Jennings, had one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine.

Peguero faces charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Breaking and Entering in the Daytime. He is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court.
