GAITHERSBURG, MD – A man from Frederick County has transformed his birthday cash into a $50,000 windfall by purchasing a single $20 scratch-off lottery ticket. In a stroke of luck at Shady Grove Beer & Wine in Gaithersburg, he selected the $1 Million Royale game.

The winner, a resident of a small town in Western Maryland, utilized the cash gifted by his mother in a birthday card to buy the ticket. After purchasing the ticket, he scanned it with his Lottery mobile app in his vehicle, only to discover his significant win.

He was so astonished by the win that he immediately called his wife, who initially doubted the news. To prove the win, he sent her a screenshot of the winning notification. The couple plans to use the money to purchase a new vehicle and pay off credit card debt accrued from an air-conditioning unit repair.
