Body Found on Rockaway Beach Identified

NEW YORK, NY – The deceased individual found at Rockaway Beach has been identified as Moises Rodriguez, a 30-year-old male from Fort Washington Avenue in New York City.

On Monday, at approximately 12:30 A.M., police responded to a 911 call reporting an aided person at Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk, within the 100 Precinct. Officers arrived to find an unconscious and unresponsive male in his 30s floating in the water. The man was removed from the water and transported to St. John’s Hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing. The identity of the deceased was initially withheld pending family notification.
