Fire Causes Significant Damage to Edgewood Home

by Breaking Local News Report

EDGEWOOD, MD — A dwelling fire caused extensive damage to a two-story, single-family home in Edgewood on Saturday night.

At 9:20 PM, a fire broke out at 429 Trimble Fields Drive, the residence of James and Janie Sieracki. The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded, with fifty firefighters controlling the blaze within fifteen minutes.

No injuries or deaths were reported. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in content loss. The smoke alarm was present and activated, but there was no fire alarm or sprinkler system.

The fire originated on the rear deck and was discovered by the owners, who were inside when they heard noises and smelled smoke. The cause has been determined to be accidental, due to discarded smoking material. The owners and their two dogs escaped safely and are being assisted by family members.
