SOUTH GREENSBURG, Pa. — A Mount Pleasant Township woman has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property after Westmoreland County Detectives accused her of stealing approximately $100,000 worth of instant lottery tickets from her employer. Kimberly Morris allegedly pocketed the tickets over several months while working at Falbo’s Pizzeria in South Greensburg.
The investigation into Morris began after the owner of the pizzeria noticed discrepancies in the Pennsylvania Lottery machine at the business. The issue was first identified in 2019, and the business contacted detectives in December 2023 when weekly audits revealed ongoing deficiencies in instant game tickets. According to detectives, the discrepancies ranged from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars each week.
Charges were filed following the investigation, which determined that Morris had allegedly been stealing tickets over an extended period. The case highlights the significant financial impact on the small business, which had been experiencing substantial losses due to the theft.
Morris is now facing charges of theft and receiving stolen property as the case proceeds through the legal system.
