Death Investigation Underway After Fiery Crash in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, V.A. — Authorities are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on Friday evening in Woodbridge, resulting in one death.

Officers responded to initial reports of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Occoquan Road at approximately 6:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had placed gasoline in the passenger compartment of the vehicle just before the crash, which caused the fire inside the vehicle. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.

The identity of the deceased will be released pending identification and notification of next of kin. Police are asking anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
