SALISBURY, Md. — A Salisbury woman is celebrating a $50,000 win after purchasing a Maryland Lottery Joker’s Wild scratch-off ticket at a store just south of the Delaware line. The Wicomico County resident, a regular Lottery player, said this prize is by far her largest to date.

“I’ve won like $1,000 before,” she said, recalling her previous best win. She purchased the $5 ticket from Corner Market on South Bi-State Boulevard in Delmar, and decided to play it in her car.

“I was sitting in my car and when I got to the last number, I’m thinking, ‘Did I see this right?’” she recalled. Unsure, she returned to the store to confirm her win. “I went back in the store and asked, ‘Am I seeing this right?’ and she said, ‘Yeah, you’re seeing it right!’”

With her $50,000 prize, the lucky winner plans to pay off her car loan, assist her two daughters, and handle a few other personal matters. As for whether she’ll keep playing, she initially said “maybe,” but quickly added, “You know I am!”

Corner Market, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize winning ticket.

The Joker’s Wild instant ticket launched on July 22, and three of the eight $50,000 top prizes have already been claimed. Six of 10 $5,000 prizes and 18 of 30 $1,000 prizes remain, along with many smaller prizes.
