Man charged in fatal shooting in Prince George’s County

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — The Prince George’s County Police Department has identified and charged an 18-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month. Dartrell Bryant, of Hyattsville, is accused of murdering 26-year-old Jawaun Jackson of Washington, D.C.

Police responded to a call on Sept. 19 at approximately 8:45 p.m. reporting a male in the roadway in the 2900 block of 52nd Avenue. Officers arrived to find Jackson suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Bryant and the victim were known to each other, though no further details about their relationship have been released.

Bryant has been charged with first- and second-degree murder. He remains in custody without bond at the Department of Corrections.
