Macon County school receives state flag flown over North Carolina Capitol

by Breaking Local News Report

MACON COUNTY, N.C. — After Hurricane Helene swept through the region, Macon County Board of Education Chairman Jim Breedlove noticed the state flag at one of the local schools was torn and tattered. Whether the damage occurred during the storm or beforehand was unclear, but it was evident that a new flag was needed.

Chairman Breedlove quickly reached out for help in replacing the worn flag. In response, officials secured a special North Carolina flag, one that had been flown over the state’s Capitol in Raleigh. On Friday, the new flag was presented to Chairman Breedlove, Principal Nancy Breedlove, and School Resource Officer Trey Chastain.

The replacement flag marks a meaningful gesture, symbolizing both the resilience of the community and the importance of local pride in the wake of the recent storm.
