Wilkes-Barre man arrested for alleged assault in domestic dispute

A Wilkes-Barre man faces charges after allegedly assaulting a woman in a late-night domestic dispute.

WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 34-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a domestic dispute on Brown Street in which he allegedly assaulted a 32-year-old woman, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.

Officers responded to the residence at 12:06 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the victim informed officers that the defendant, identified as Juan Torres-Criollo, was intoxicated and had attacked her while she was sleeping.

According to police, the victim reported that Torres-Criollo grabbed her by her hair and struck her repeatedly in the face with a closed fist.

Torres-Criollo was taken into custody at the scene and transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment.

Authorities have not released further details about charges or the condition of the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
