LAUREL, Md. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a Laurel resident, Prince George’s County police announced Wednesday.
Darius Jackson, of Oxon Hill, is accused of shooting and killing 58-year-old Jerome Stocks on the night of November 26 in the 12000 block of Silverbirch Lane. Officers responding to the scene at approximately 9:05 p.m. found Stocks outside with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives quickly identified Jackson as the suspect, citing a dispute involving a family member of the victim as the motive. Investigators determined that Jackson and Stocks were known to each other.
Jackson was apprehended by the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit and is now in custody at the Department of Corrections. He faces charges of first- and second-degree murder as well as related offenses.
